It’s a new year and a new decade. ADKF has grown and wants to continue its evolution. With the staff’s wellbeing in mind, ADKF has launched a Wellness Initiative. While ADKF has already incorporated standing desks and healthier snacks in the kitchen, the new initiative got its footing with GO365, a product through our Humana insurance.
Go365® is an employee wellness program that can be customized to suit the needs of employees to help improve health and wellness. Those who have insurance through ADKF, sign up and can link the wellness apps they’re already using or try out new ones. They can learn about their health, earn rewards, and climb to higher Go365 Status levels by completing activities. Plus, members will earn points automatically when they sync and check in to one of Go365’s participating fitness facilities or join a step challenge. Each activity has a different reward value. The more an employee engages, the more they earn to spend at the Go365 Mall. To start it all off, ADKF generously offered each employee a biometric screening. Nurses came in and took height, weight, blood pressure measurements, as well as completed finger pricks for blood samples, and nicotine tests. Those who participated were placed in a drawing to win a $200 JW Marriott gift card, a Fit Bit Inspire HR, or a $75 Alamo Drafthouse gift card. Later that day the winners were announced. Susan Jentsch won the Marriott card, Maria Morales the Fitbit, and Victor Rios the Alamo Drafthouse gift card.
The Wellness Initiative was launched at the tax kick-off meeting in late January. It started with special guest, Dr. Michael Boss, speaking during lunch. Dr. Michael S. Boss has been a practicing chiropractor, health, and wellness practitioner for over 27 years. During lunch, Dr. Boss gave a presentation on ergonomics, healthy eating, and how to lessen stress during the busy season. The staff was excited and inquisitive.
Going forward into the busy season, and the remainder of the year, many employees will band together to help one another realize weight loss goals, with a Weight Loss Challenge. Those who want to join, do so, and cheer each other on. There is also some incentivizing with everyone pooling their money toward a pot of gold to be collected by the first, second, and third-person/s who lose the greatest percentage of weight by the end of the challenge. They weigh in the last week of each month, through the end of April. Everyone is motivated and excited to participate, especially through the stressful time of tax season. They have recently incorporated a Step Challenge to include those who want to participate and create healthy habits as a lifestyle. These challenges will also help those who are enrolled in Humana Go365 earn points for prizes.
There will be future challenges, for all who are enrolled with Humana and Go365, to encourage all employees to be active and get healthy. The current challenge is striving for Silver, Gold, and Platinum Go365 status. The first, second, and third person to achieve each level, will get to choose from numerous gift cards. First place will choose up to $100 in gift cards, second up to $75, and third up to $50. There will also be a consolation $25 gift card given to those who participate and achieve the different levels from fourth place and on.
