Eric McGraw has worked in public accounting for ten years and at ADKF for six months. Ironically, he interviewed in 2012, but accepted another job offer before ADKF could get back to him. Public accounting has taken him to Atlanta, Los Angeles, Little Rock, Dallas and had him move to San Antonio three times. Before Eric was an accountant, he worked as a middle school teacher in math and science.
Teaching in rural Georgia wasn’t quite living up to the expectation he had imagined. Remembering accounting 101 and enjoying it, Eric decided to try his hand at it again in a night class. It was like riding a bicycle and he graduated with his second bachelor’s from the University of Georgia and then his masters from Georgia State.
Eric spends his free time with his family traveling to state parks, working on projects around the house, and reading. The work-life balance can be “really, really hard”, as he describes it. With phones and laptops always available, email is easy to check, and he consciously has to make sure to turn it all off. Every night he’ll spend a few hours with his kids, be it video games like Minecraft or dolls. When he has spare time, he’ll binge-read a handful of books and then might go the rest of the year without reading.
ADKF has shown Eric that success isn’t a cookie-cutter formula. He’s observed how different personalities have found success. We are happy to have him on board and look forward to how he finds his own success at ADKF.
