Busy season is almost done, and we’re sprinting towards the finish line! ADKF is ever committed to developing our professional staff and continuing our community service, so we decided that crafty philanthropy was just the ticket! When we heard about ChildSafe’s Fourth annual Cardboard Kid event, we welcomed the creative homework to decorate these little kiddies to raise awareness! ChildSafe’s mission is to restore dignity, hope, and trust to children traumatized by abuse and neglect. ChildSafe’s Cardboard Kids are intended to raise awareness by asking local businesses, clubs, organizations, and individuals to decorate and display a Cardboard Kid representing one of the thousands of children who suffer from abuse and neglect at the hands of adults in Bexar County every year. We gladly joined the cause to support their mission of ending child abuse in Bexar County.
At ADKF we set down the 10-keys, stepped away from the spreadsheets, and grabbed our hot-glue guns, rhinestones, toddler clothes, and anything we could use to make our kids stand out! Of course, there was a friendly competition for best dressed, and I may be biased, but I think they all turned out super cute! We even displayed the kids along every office window, so the whole building could enjoy the gallery as they entered! These small kids’ biggest job was to raise awareness, and they succeeded since we even got anonymous donations as a result! Most of the kids continue to hang around the ADKF office, some even help us with work or enjoy our décor.
