Getting to Know Elizabeth Brophy, CPA – Audit Manager at ADKF

Elizabeth Brophy, CPA, joined ADKF in 2023 as an Audit Senior III, bringing with her a strong background in public accounting and a commitment to building relationships with clients. In January 2025, she was promoted to Audit Manager, a role she stepped into with confidence and a clear sense of purpose.

Originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Elizabeth earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Mississippi State University. She started her career in Atlanta with KPMG, where she gained valuable experience before relocating to San Antonio with her now husband. The move marked a new chapter in both her personal life and professional journey.

At ADKF, Elizabeth stepped into the manager role with confidence, thanks to the preparation she had put in during her time as a senior. “I was fortunate to keep working with many of the same clients I had as a senior,” she says. “That helped me ease into the role while shifting my focus to a higher level.”  By the time of her promotion, she had already begun working directly with the partners and taking on increasing responsibility, which made the transition feel like a natural progression built on experience and trust.

What Elizabeth enjoys most about her work is the variety and the people. “No two days, or weeks, are ever the same, which keeps things interesting.” The dynamic nature of the work means there’s always something new to learn, and that constant change is something she has come to really appreciate about public accounting. It’s a key factor that keeps her from considering a move to industry, as she enjoys the challenge of staying on her toes and adapting to new situations. Beyond the variety, Elizabeth also values the strong, supportive team culture at ADKF. The collaborative environment and the genuine relationships she has built with colleagues make a significant impact on her daily experience. It’s not just the work itself, but the people she works with that keep her motivated and engaged.

One of her proudest professional accomplishments so far has been earning her CPA license. She earned her license in 2024 while working full-time, a balancing act she doesn’t take lightly. “It was a challenge, but I’m proud of pushing through and getting it done.”

What motivates her day to day? It’s all about helping clients. “A lot of the businesses we work with are family-owned. Knowing that I’m helping someone take care of their livelihood is really meaningful.” At times, Elizabeth’s work involves pointing out small risks that clients may not have considered, while other times it means guiding them through significant decisions. Regardless of the situation, she knows that each interaction has an impact.

For those just starting out in their careers, Elizabeth encourages saying “yes” to new opportunities, and even if it feels like a stretch, to believe in yourself. “Trying new things helps you grow and connect with more people.” One piece of advice she holds onto came from her first partner in the profession: “Never quit on a bad day. Things always get better.”

Outside of work, Elizabeth’s time is centered around her newborn, family, and friends. She and her husband are gearing up for a busy year of travel, with weddings scattered across the country, a fun side effect of his Navy days and the friendships they’ve made over the years.

For Elizabeth, success means enjoying what she does, feeling like she’s made a difference, and knowing her work has helped someone. It’s a simple and grounded approach that continues to guide her professionally.

A few quick things to know about Elizabeth:

Elizabeth’s approach to leadership is thoughtful, client-focused, and rooted in a genuine passion for the work. She’s a valuable part of the ADKF team, and we’re proud to have her growing in this next chapter of her career.
