Summer at ADKF has been a vibrant blend of celebration, connection, and community, and we’ve truly packed in the fun! The transition from spring to summer brought a wave of excitement and momentum, and our calendars quickly filled with a mix of celebrations, professional milestones, volunteer efforts, and team-building moments. Whether we were cheering each other on at events, giving back to the community, or simply taking time to appreciate one another, this season has been a vibrant reminder of everything that makes our culture so strong!
We kicked things off in May with a much-needed celebration after another successful busy season. The tax and audit teams traded spreadsheets for paddles at our End of Busy Season party at Chicken N Pickle, where laughter, great food, and a friendly pickleball tournament ensued. The competitive atmosphere didn’t stop there. We teed off at both the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association and Associated Builders and Contractors Golf Tournaments, where our teams represented the firm with style (and a pretty solid swing). Additionally, we mixed and mingled at the TXCPA - San Antonio’s Spring Social where we were able to connect with incoming and young industry professionals. Finally, we wrapped up May by attending one of our favorite annual volunteer events, The United Way Shoebox Project assembly day. Our team worked together with others in the community to assemble hundreds of care kits filled with essential hygiene items which would then be distributed throughout the entire city to those who need them the most.

We kept up the momentum in June! Our team spent an afternoon Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope at the San Antonio Food Bank. Packaging bags of pasta that would be distributed to families that same week, we were able to make an immediate impact in our community! We also continued to grow professionally, with several of us attending the SACPA Professional Mixer at the San Antonio Spurs Training Center. ADKF was proud to be the presenting sponsor of the event, and it was another great opportunity to further our relationships in the accounting space.

In addition to meeting with other accountants, we also enjoy networking with other professional services! Alongside Frost Bank, we co-hosted a happy hour mixer in which team members from both sides were able to connect with one another.
By July, summer was in full swing, and so were we! We started the month by celebrating our summer promotions. A total of 18 team members were promoted and we could not be more proud of their hard work, dedication, and commitment! Additionally, at the end of the month, we celebrated our interns who dove in, learned, contributed, and have been great team members!

We also used July as a chance to show our appreciation for the clients who make our work so rewarding by hosting a Client Appreciation Happy Hour! It was a great opportunity to connect outside the office, share some good food and conversation, and simply say thank you to our clients for their continued trust and partnership. We also looked ahead to future opportunities by attending the Texas Restaurant Association Show and Expo, where we connected with industry professionals, shared what we do, and explored new ways we can support businesses in reaching their goals. Whether strengthening existing relationships or building new ones, we’re always excited to grow alongside the communities we serve.

To give back to our community in July, we scheduled two opportunities for our team to participate in. Volunteers spent time with the Animal Defense League, caring for furry friends and learning more about the shelter’s needs. We also stepped up to support the Vault: Fostering Community Shoe Drive, helping collect and organize new shoes for foster children to have for back to school. At the same time, our hearts have been with those affected by the recent Hill Country flooding. In a small gesture of solidarity, we added green ribbons to our office as a visible reminder of the ongoing recovery efforts. We’ve reached out to clients who were directly impacted to offer our support and resources, and we’ve continued to advocate for ways others can help, from donating to local organizations to sharing information about how to get involved. Community has always been at the heart of what we do, and we remain committed to standing with those who need it most.

As we wrap up a busy and rewarding summer, we’re proud to reflect on all the ways our team has come together, whether to celebrate milestones, support one another, or give back to the community. These past few months have not only strengthened our relationships inside the firm but also deepened our connections with the broader communities we serve. From pickleball and promotions to food banks and shoe drives, every moment has reinforced the values we hold close: community, service, and genuine care for the relationships and people around us. We’re grateful for the memories made this season and excited for the opportunities that lie ahead as we carry this momentum into the fall!
