Founded in 1991, ADKF, P.C., originally known as Akin, Doherty, Klein & Feuge, P.C. was not always the largest, locally owned accounting firm in San Antonio. Instead, the firm comes from much more humble beginnings.
Tom Akin, David Doherty, Howard Klein and Joe Feuge each began their careers in public accounting at Ernst & Whinney, now Ernst & Young, following their college graduations. After gaining many years of hands-on experience in public accounting with Ernst, the founders came together in early 1991 with the vision and desire to forge their own path, and the dream of creating a firm of their own was born. On July 1, 1991, the doors to ADKF were opened on the 1st floor of the Energy Plaza building, where the firm stayed for just over 30 years!
What began as a small office, mostly filled with secondhand furniture, has now grown into the largest locally owned CPA firm in San Antonio and South Texas. The founding partners did not have a business plan to grow a large CPA firm. Rather, their core values of understanding and working hard for every client, values we still emphasize today, enabled the business to flourish. Client relationships and service, and giving back to the community, is what made, and will always make, ADKF successful. By understanding what clients really required from a professional CPA, and then servicing those clients with genuine care for their business, their families, and the community, ADKF was not only able to grow the client list, but they were also able to establish a reputation of trust and loyalty.
The founding partners created a legacy of success, determination, and positive impact. It is through their guidance and support over the years that our current Partners, and entire firm, are able to continue to live out the vision, mission, and values created in 1991.
